Does China have Hypersonic Missiles?

Did you know the soviet union developed this technology during the cold war?

Well, they did. And when everyone heard Trump talk about ”space wars”, they thought he was crazy, but all he was doing was talking about classified information that the general public were unaware of.

What goes on behind the scenes would blow your mind, the problem is, the general public is far too closed minded to believe it.

News has spread around the world that China launched a hypersonic missile in August 2021. Some of the news sources that have reported that China tested a hypersonic glide vehicle, capable of launching hypersonic missiles are :

  • Financial times
  • New York Times
  • Business insider Australia
  • Vice news

Some of these news sources did admit that China denied testing a hypersonic missile, but most just went along with the story, whether it’s true or not. Here’s a few Chinese news sources that claimed China did not launch a hypersonic missile.

  • Global Times
  • South China Morning Post

Global Times : It Was For Peaceful Use

The Global times reported that the Chinese foreign ministry refuted claims made by the financial times that China tested a nuclear capable hypersonic missile. Instead Zhao Lijian claimed this was a reusable space craft which was doing a routine technology test for ”peaceful purpose”.

What do I think? Well, it’s definitely in China’s best interest to do everything possible to have credible deterrents against the west. I’ve got many questions myself, like : Why did the financial times panic over this, yet said nothing about the Chinese rocket that flew over Australia recently? But, lets do some more digging.

Zhao Lijian Says It Was Just A Reusable Space Craft

This tweet seems to be making a joke about the panic this test has caused, which means that China has achieved some form of deterrent, regardless if it even happened. USA will have to assume that China has these capabilities now, otherwise, assuming China doesn’t would be a huge mistake if a conflict was to begin.

What is a Fractional Orbital Bombardment System? (FOBS)

This is not anything new, it’s important for you guys to understand that this is old school tech from the cold war with the soviet union. There is an old movie called ”space cowboys” where US engineers go out to retrieve an old nuclear armed satellite from the cold war.

My understanding of it is, there are two types of systems, orbital (17,000 mph) and suborbital (4,000mph). If China was to achieve orbital, this would show a higher level of technology advancement. The traditional system was designed to have a vehicle capable of deploying a nuclear warhead deorbiting over the target, which there is no defence for.

Perhaps the real reason why USA and Russia collaborated with each other in space, was to prove to each other that none of each others satellites were weaponised. Just thinking out loud.

What is a Hypersonic Glide Vehicle?

Russia designed the ”Avangard” glide vehicle without propulsion. It is capable of making sharp turns at hypersonic speeds to avoid being shot down by any missile defence system, which means it has a high probability of hitting whatever target it’s after.

My understanding is, China has developed their own newer version of the ”Avangard”, which could be even harder to detect and more difficult to defend against. When we look at the reactions from the Americans during the cold war compared to the current crisis with China, I cannot help but feel that the United States is being complacent at an almost negligent level. Keep in mind, China is far more dangerous in every way than the soviet union ever was.

How Fast is China’s Hypersonic Missile?

A quick search turned up 6,000 km per hour. My understanding is, that with this weapons manoeuvrability combined with this speed, it’s almost unbeatable. USA has the same technology of course, but is USA willing to take on such large collateral damage to their own cities? Doubt it.

My Thoughts

Michael Pillsbury (Hudson institute) often talked about the top secret war games that USA would play and their outcomes when China won. He said that when China won these simulations, they had two specific moves to play immediately, before anything else was to be done.

  1. Fire rockets at every US satellite and take them all out. This would leave US blind in Asia, especially their air craft carriers.
  2. Use hypersonic missiles to take out every (now blind) US air craft carrier.

Michael Pillsbury has said this on many occasions and it would seem that China has made rocket and missile technology their main focus for the past 20 years, which would confirm what he has been saying. A million dollar missile taking out a billion dollar aircraft carrier is a huge pay off for China. Not, to mention that all the projected conflicts would be off the coast of China, which give them another huge advantage.

Another thing is, China would have the deterrent of proving they can hit USA home land which could force them out of any Asian conflict too. Leaving China alone to become a reginal Asian hegemon.
